Myrbetriq is a medication that helps manage symptoms of an overactive bladder (OAB). These symptoms include sudden urgency to urinate, frequent urination, and involuntary loss of urine (incontinence). Myrbetriq works by relaxing the muscles in the bladder. This increases the bladder's ability to store urine, which helps reduce the frequency and urgency of urination and the number of incontinence episodes.

WHO IS PRESCRIBED MYRBETRIQ?

Adults with Overactive Bladder (OAB): Myrbetriq is primarily prescribed to adults experiencing symptoms of OAB.  

WHO SHOULD AVOID MYRBETRIQ?

Patients with Severe Uncontrolled High Blood Pressure: If your blood pressure is extremely high and not controlled, you should not take Myrbetriq.

Pregnant Women: Myrbetriq is not recommended during pregnancy.

Allergies: If you are allergic to mirabegron or any ingredients in Myrbetriq, you should avoid this medication.

 

HOW SHOULD I TAKE MYRBETRIQ?

Dosage: The usual starting dose is 25 mg once daily. Based on your response and tolerance, your doctor may increase the dose to 50 mg once daily.

With or Without Food: You can take Myrbetriq with or without food.

How to Take: Swallow the tablet whole with water. Do not chew, divide, or crush the tablet.

 

MISSED DOSE

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it’s almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not take two doses at once.

POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS

Like all medications, Myrbetriq may cause side effects. Common side effects include:

• High blood pressure
• Nasal congestion (nasopharyngitis)
• Urinary tract infection
• Headache

 

WHEN TO SEEK MEDICAL HELP

Severe Allergic Reactions: Seek immediate medical attention if you experience swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, or have difficulty breathing.

Blood Pressure: Monitor your blood pressure regularly. Contact your doctor if you notice significant increases.

Heart Rate: If you experience a fast or irregular heartbeat, inform your doctor.
