What is Vagifem® 10 used for?

How does Vagifem® 10 work?

Do not use Vagifem® 10 if you:

- Have had blood clots or liver problems
- Are allergic to estradiol or any other ingredients in this medication

How to use Vagifem® 10
- Initial Dose: Use one vaginal insert daily for the first 2 weeks.
- Maintenance Dose: Use one vaginal insert twice a week (with a 3-4 day interval between doses).
Steps to Insert Vagifem® 10
- Wash your hands.
- Open the package and remove the applicator.
- Choose a comfortable position (sitting, standing, or lying down).
- Hold the applicator and insert it gently into the vagina as far as it comfortably goes.
- Press the plunger to release the insert.
- Remove the applicator and dispose of it properly.
What to do if you miss a dose
If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. If it’s almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not use two doses at the same time.
Possible side effects
Common side effects include:
- Breast tenderness or swelling
- Headache
- Abdominal pain or bloating
- Vaginal bleeding, discharge, or discomfort
- Nausea
Contact your healthcare provider if you experience any serious side effects such as:
- Severe headaches or migraines
- Unusual vaginal bleeding
- Signs of blood clots (leg pain, sudden chest pain, difficulty breathing)
- Yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice)
