SPRIVA RESPIMAT - Canada Product Information

Spiriva Respimat is a medication used to help people with lung conditions like chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma. It comes in the form of an inhaler and is designed to make breathing easier.

HOW DOES SPIRIVA WORK?
Spiriva Respimat contains a medicine called tiotropium bromide. This medicine helps to open up the airways in your lungs, making it easier for you to breathe. It works by relaxing the muscles around your airways, which helps to keep them open.

WHO CAN USE SPIRIVA RESPIMAT?
  • Adults with COPD, including chronic bronchitis and emphysema.
  • Adults with asthma who still have symptoms even after using other asthma medications.

  • Note: Spiriva Respimat is not for use in children under 18 years of age.

    HOW TO USE SPIRIVA RESPIMAT
    1. Prepare the Inhaler:
      • Before first use, insert the cartridge into the inhaler.
      • Point the inhaler toward the ground and press the button until you see a mist. Repeat this three more times. Your inhaler is now ready.
    2. Daily Use:
      • Take two inhalations once a day, at the same time each day.
      • Do not take more than the recommended dose.
    3. Missed Dose:
      • If you forget to take your dose, take it as soon as you remember.
      • Do not take more than one dose (2 inhalations) in 24 hours.

    IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION
  • Not for Acute Symptoms: Spiriva Respimat is not a rescue inhaler. Use a quick-relief inhaler for sudden breathing problems.
