Activelle® LD is a medication that contains two hormones: 0.5 mg of Estradiol (a form of estrogen) and 0.1 mg of Norethindrone acetate (a form of progestin). It comes as a small, white, round tablet that you take by mouth.


WHY AM I TAKING ACTIVELLE® LD?

This medicine is used to treat moderate to severe symptoms of menopause. These symptoms can include hot flashes and night sweats, which are caused by lower levels of estrogen in your body during menopause. Activelle® LD is only recommended for women who still have their uterus (womb).


DO NOT TAKE ACTIVELLE® LD IF YOU:

 
  • Are allergic to any of the ingredients in the tablet.
  • Have liver problems.
  • Have or had certain cancers, such as breast or endometrial cancer.
  • Have unusual vaginal bleeding that has not been checked by a doctor.
  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • Have had blood clots, strokes, or heart attacks.
  • Have a condition called porphyria.

  • Heart and Blood Vessel Problems: This medication may increase the risk of heart attacks, strokes, and blood clots.
  • Breast Cancer: Taking estrogen and progestin may increase the risk of breast cancer.
  • Endometrial Cancer: Taking estrogen alone can increase the risk of cancer of the lining of the uterus. The progestin in Activelle® LD helps to reduce this risk.
  • Ovarian Cancer: Some studies suggest a possible increase in the risk of ovarian cancer.
  • Gallbladder Disease: It may increase the risk of gallbladder disease.

  • Have a full check-up, including a blood pressure check, breast and pelvic exams, and a Pap smear.
  • Discuss your medical history and any risk factors with your doctor.

    • HOW TO TAKE ACTIVELLE® LD

  • Take one tablet every day, preferably at the same time each day.
  • If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it’s been more than 12 hours, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule.
