Veozah® (fezolinetant) – Information
What is Veozah?
Veozah is a non-hormonal prescription tablet used to treat moderate to severe hot flashes and night sweats (called vasomotor symptoms) that happen during menopause.
These symptoms are common when estrogen levels drop. Veozah helps reduce both how often and how intense they are.
How Veozah Works
During menopause, your body makes less estrogen, which upsets the brain’s temperature-control system.
Veozah works by blocking a brain chemical called neurokinin B (NKB) that becomes overactive when estrogen drops.
By calming this signal, Veozah helps your body regulate temperature again — so you experience fewer and milder hot flashes and night sweats.
Who Can Use Veozah
Veozah is for adult women after menopause who are bothered by hot flashes or night sweats.
It is not meant for:
-
People who are pregnant or breastfeeding
-
Anyone under 18 years old
-
Adults 65 years or older (not enough safety data)
-
People with serious liver or kidney disease
-
Those taking certain medicines that strongly affect liver enzymes (such as fluvoxamine)
Always tell your healthcare provider about any medications, supplements, or medical conditions before starting Veozah.
How to Take Veozah
-
Dose: One 45 mg tablet taken once daily
-
Timing: Take it around the same time each day
-
With or without food: Either is fine
-
How to take: Swallow whole with water – do not cut, crush, or chew
Missed a dose?
If you remember later that same day, take it as soon as possible.
If it’s been more than 12 hours, skip the missed dose and take your next one at the usual time.
Don’t double up to make up for a missed tablet.
Before You Start
Your doctor will order blood tests to check your liver before you begin treatment.
More tests will be done:
-
Monthly for the first 3 months
-
Again at 6 months and 9 months after starting
These checks help ensure your liver is tolerating the medication well.
Possible Side Effects
Most people tolerate Veozah well. Common effects include:
-
Headache
-
Nausea or diarrhea
-
Abdominal discomfort or pain
-

-

Serious Side Effects – When to Get Help

Yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice)
