XARELTO® is a medication that helps prevent and treat blood clots. It comes in tablet form (2.5 mg, 10 mg, 15 mg, and 20 mg) and as granules for oral suspension (1mg/mL).

USES OF XARELTO®

Prevent blood clots in patients who have had hip or knee replacement surgery.

Treat blood clots in the legs (deep vein thrombosis, DVT) and lungs (pulmonary embolism, PE) and prevent them from coming back.

Prevent stroke and other blood clots in patients with atrial fibrillation (an irregular heartbeat).

HOW TO TAKE XARELTO®

Tablets: Swallow with water. The 15 mg and 20 mg tablets should be taken with food.

Oral Suspension: Mix the granules with water as instructed and take by mouth using the provided dosing syringe. This should be taken with food or feeding.

DOSAGE

Hip or knee replacement surgery: 10 mg once daily.

Treating blood clots: 15 mg twice daily for the first 3 weeks, then 20 mg once daily.

Preventing stroke in atrial fibrillation: 20 mg once daily with food.

MISSED DOSE AND DOSAGE CONSIDERATIONS

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember on the same day. Do not take extra doses to make up for the missed one.

For children, doses are based on body weight and may require different dosing forms.

IMPORTANT SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS

Bleeding Risk: XARELTO® can cause serious bleeding. Be cautious and inform your doctor if you have any bleeding issues.

Kidney Function: Your doctor will monitor your kidney function, especially if you have any kidney issues.

Drug Interactions: Inform your doctor about all medications you are taking as some can increase bleeding risk when combined with XARELTO®.

SIDE EFFECTS

Common side effects include:

Bleeding and bruising

Stomach pain

Allergic reactions

If you experience severe side effects, such as excessive bleeding, seek medical attention immediately.

STORAGE

Keep XARELTO® tablets and granules in their original packaging at room temperature away from moisture and heat.

2.5 mg tablets: 100 tablet bottle

10 mg tablets: 50 tablet bottle

15 mg & 20 mg tablets: 90 tablet bottle
