Diovan HCT is a medication that combines two active ingredients, valsartan and hydrochlorothiazide, in tablet form. It's used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) when a combination of these two medicines is appropriate.


HOW DOES DIOVAN HCT WORK?

  • Valsartan: This is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that helps relax blood vessels so blood can flow more easily.
  • Hydrochlorothiazide: This is a diuretic (water pill) that helps reduce the amount of water and salt in the body by increasing urine output.

  • HOW TO TAKE DIOVAN HCT

  • Take Diovan HCT once a day, with or without food.
  • Try to take it at the same time each day.
  • If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it's almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double up on doses.

  • WHO SHOULD NOT TAKE DIOVAN HCT?

  • Those allergic to valsartan, hydrochlorothiazide, or any other ingredients in the tablet.
  • Pregnant or breastfeeding women.
  • Patients with severe kidney problems or those who cannot urinate.
  • Patients with severe liver disease.
  • Patients who are allergic to sulfa drugs.
