Eliquis is a medication used to prevent and treat blood clots. It helps reduce the risk of stroke and other serious conditions related to blood clots, such as deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE).
HOW DOES ELIQUIS WORK?
Eliquis works by inhibiting a substance in your blood called Factor Xa, which is involved in blood clotting. By reducing the activity of Factor Xa, Eliquis helps to prevent the formation of harmful blood clots.
WHO IS PRESCRIBED ELIQUIS?

- Have severe liver disease.
- Are taking certain medications, such as b inhibitors of CYP 3A4 and P-gp (e.g., ketoconazole, itraconazole, ritonavir).
- Are allergic to Eliquis or any of its ingredients.
HOW SHOULD I TAKE ELIQUIS?
- Dosage: The typical dose of Eliquis is 2.5 mg or 5 mg taken twice a day.
- Timing: Take Eliquis exactly as prescribed by your doctor. It can be taken with or without food.
- Missed Dose: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not take two doses at the same time.
