Fiasp is a type of insulin used to control high blood sugar in people with diabetes. It is a fast-acting insulin that helps to lower blood sugar levels after meals.


HOW TO USE FIASP?

Before Meals: Inject Fiasp up to 2 minutes before eating. If needed, you can inject it up to 20 minutes after starting your meal.

Injection Sites: You can inject Fiasp into your abdomen, upper arm, or thigh. Rotate the injection site within the same region to avoid skin problems.

Dosage: Your doctor will help you determine the right dose. The dose may need adjustments based on your blood sugar levels, diet, activity level, and other medications.


HOW TO INJECT FIASP INSULIN USING THE CARTRIDGES

  1. Prepare Your Supplies:

    Fiasp insulin cartridge, compatible insulin pen, new needle, alcohol swab, and sharps container

  2. Wash Your Hands:

    Clean your hands thoroughly with soap and water.

  3. Load the Cartridge:

    Insert the Fiasp cartridge into the insulin pen as per the pen’s instructions.

  4. Attach the Needle:

    Screw a new needle onto the pen.

  5. Prime the Pen:

    Remove the needle cap and the inner needle cap. Dial a small dose (1-2 units) to remove air bubbles. Hold the pen upright and press the injection button until you see a drop of insulin at the needle tip.

  6. Set Your Dose:

    Turn the dose selector to your prescribed insulin dose.

  7. Prepare the Injection Site:

    Clean the skin with an alcohol swab where you plan to inject (e.g., abdomen, thigh, upper arm).

  8. Inject the Insulin:

    • Pinch the skin at the injection site.
    • Insert the needle at a 90-degree angle.
    • Press the injection button fully to inject the insulin.
    • Hold the needle in place for 6-10 seconds to ensure all insulin is delivered.
  9. Remove and Dispose of the Needle:

    Carefully remove the needle from the injection site. Dispose of the used needle in a sharps container.

  10. Store the Pen:

    Replace the pen cap and store it as recommended.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION

Hypoglycemia (Low Blood Sugar): This is the most common side effect. Symptoms include cold sweats, shakiness, dizziness, hunger, and confusion. Always carry a source of sugar with you.

Hyperglycemia (High Blood Sugar): Symptoms include frequent urination, increased thirst, and blurred vision. If untreated, it can lead to serious complications.

Allergic Reactions: Watch for signs of an allergic reaction, such as rash, itching, and swelling at the injection site. Severe reactions include difficulty breathing and a rapid heartbeat.


STORAGE

Unopened Fiasp: Store in the refrigerator. Do not freeze.

In Use: Store at room temperature or in the refrigerator for up to 28 days. Do not expose to heat or direct light.
