WHO CAN USE FLOVENT DISKUS?

  • Adults and Children 4 years and older: Flovent Diskus can help manage asthma by reducing inflammation in the lungs.
  • Not for children under 4 years: Flovent Diskus is not recommended for younger children.

  • HOW TO USE FLOVENT DISKUS

    1. Use regularly: It's important to use Flovent Diskus every day, even if you're feeling fine. It helps keep asthma under control.
    2. Inhalation method: The usual dose is one inhalation twice a day.
    3. Rinse mouth after use: To prevent throat infections, rinse your mouth with water and spit it out after inhaling the medicine.

    DOSAGE

    • Adults and Adolescents (16 years and older):
      • Mild asthma: 100 to 250 mcg twice daily.
      • Moderate asthma: 250 to 500 mcg twice daily.
      • Severe asthma: Up to 1000 mcg twice daily.
    • Children (4-16 years):
      • The usual starting dose is 100 mcg twice daily. For those not adequately controlled, the dose can be increased up to 200 mcg twice daily.

    MISSED DOSE

    Take the next dose when it’s due. Do not double the dose to make up for the missed one.


    POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS

  • Common: Sore throat, hoarseness, oral thrush (a fungal infection in the mouth), and cough.
  • Rare: Anxiety, sleep disorders, and behavioral changes (mainly in children), bruising, and eye problems like cataracts or glaucoma.

  • WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS

    • Not for acute asthma attacks: Flovent Diskus won't work for sudden breathing problems. Always carry a quick-relief inhaler for emergencies.
    • Weaning off: If you need to stop using Flovent Diskus, do it gradually under your doctor’s guidance to avoid withdrawal symptoms.
    • Infections: It can mask signs of infections. Inform your doctor if you develop symptoms of infections.

    STORAGE

    Store at room temperature and keep away from direct sunlight and moisture.
