Humalog is a fast-acting insulin used to control blood sugar levels in people with diabetes. It helps manage blood sugar during meals and snacks.

HOW DOES HUMALOG WORK?

Humalog works quickly to help your body use sugar from food. It starts to work within 15 minutes of injection and lasts for 3 to 4 hours.

HOW TO USE HUMALOG KWIKPEN

1. Prepare Your Pen:
   • Wash your hands.
   • Check the insulin. It should be clear and colorless. Do not use it if it looks cloudy or has particles.
   • Attach a new needle and prime the pen to remove air bubbles.
2. Injecting Humalog:
   • Choose an injection site on your belly, thigh, or upper arm.
   • Clean the skin with an alcohol swab.
   • Pinch the skin and insert the needle.
   • Press the dose button and hold for 10 seconds before removing the needle.
3. After Injection:
   • Safely dispose of the needle in a sharps container.
   • Store the pen at room temperature for up to 28 days.

WHEN TO USE HUMALOG

Inject within 15 minutes before a meal or right after eating.

POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS

Common: Low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), which can cause dizziness, sweating, shaking, or confusion.

Less Common: Redness or swelling at the injection site, rash, or itching.

WHAT TO DO IF YOU EXPERIENCE SIDE EFFECTS

For mild low blood sugar, eat or drink something sugary (like glass of fruit juice or candy).

For severe reactions, contact your doctor or go to the emergency room immediately.

STORAGE

Before first use, keep Humalog in the refrigerator.

After first use, store it at room temperature and use within 28 days.
