Kirsty® is a rapid-acting insulin analog that helps your body regulate blood sugar levels after eating. • How to Inject: Use the pre-filled pen to inject Kirsty® under the skin (subcutaneously). Recommended injection sites include the abdomen, thigh, upper arm, or buttocks. To avoid skin irritation or lumps, rotate your injection sites regularly.
• Monitoring Blood Sugar: Regular blood sugar testing is crucial when using Kirsty®. This helps you and your doctor adjust your dose for optimal blood sugar control.
• Dosing: The dose is individualized based on your doctor’s advice. Factors like your diet, physical activity, and overall health will influence the amount of insulin you need.

Important Safety Information

Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) is the most common side effect of insulin therapy. To prevent it:

• Always eat shortly after injecting Kirsty®.
• Be aware of low blood sugar symptoms like sweating, shakiness, hunger, dizziness, or confusion.
• Carry sugary snacks, like glucose tablets or candies, to treat low blood sugar quickly.
• Avoid skipping meals or engaging in unplanned strenuous physical activities without adjusting your insulin dose.

Some people may experience a loss of awareness of low blood sugar symptoms, particularly if they have had diabetes for a long time. If this happens, talk to your doctor immediately.

If you experience severe symptoms, such as confusion or unconsciousness, someone should administer glucagon or glucose and call for emergency help.

Possible Side Effects

While Kirsty® is safe for most users, it may cause side effects in some individuals.

• Common Side Effects: Low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), redness, swelling, or itching at the injection site.

Storage and Handling

Proper storage of Kirsty® is essential to maintain its effectiveness:

• Before Use: Store unopened vials or pens in the refrigerator at 36°F to 46°F. Keep them away from the cooling element to avoid freezing.
• During Use: Once opened, keep vials or pens at room temperature (below 86°F) and away from heat or sunlight. Opened insulin can be used for up to 4 weeks.
• Traveling: Always carry a spare pen to avoid interruptions in your treatment.

Do not use Kirsty® if it appears cloudy, thickened, or discolored. Dispose of expired or unused insulin responsibly by consulting your pharmacist.
