How does Linzess work?
Linzess helps increase fluid in your intestines, which can make bowel movements easier and help reduce the symptoms of abdominal pain, bloating, and discomfort associated with IBS-C and CIC.
How to take Linzess
Instructions for taking Linzess
- Take the capsule whole. Do not chew it.
- If you have trouble swallowing, you can mix the contents of the capsule with applesauce or water:
- For applesauce: Open the capsule and sprinkle the beads on one teaspoon of room-temperature applesauce. Swallow immediately without chewing.
- For water: Open the capsule and sprinkle the beads into 30 mL of room-temperature bottled water. Swirl for at least 20 seconds and drink immediately. Repeat with another 30 mL of water if beads remain.
Missed Dose
If you miss a dose, skip it and take your next dose at the regular time. Do not take two doses at once.
Who should not take Linzess ?
Children under 6 years old (and it is not recommended for those aged 6 to 18 years).
Anyone allergic to linaclotide or any other ingredients in the medication.
Patients with known or suspected gastrointestinal obstruction.
