What is MAVIRET?

MAVIRET is a medication used to treat chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection in adults. It contains two antiviral agents, glecaprevir, and pibrentasvir, which work together to eliminate the virus from your body.


Who Should Use MAVIRET?

MAVIRET is prescribed for adult patients with chronic HCV infection. It can be used by patients with or without compensated cirrhosis. It is suitable for patients with HCV genotype 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6.


How to Take MAVIRET

  • Dosage: The recommended dose is three tablets taken once daily with food. Do not chew, crush, or break the tablets.
  • Missed Dose: If you miss a dose and it’s within 18 hours of the usual time, take it as soon as possible with food. If more than 18 hours have passed, skip the missed dose and take the next dose at the usual time. Do not double the dose to catch up.

  • Important Precautions

  • Medical Supervision: MAVIRET treatment should be initiated and monitored by a healthcare professional experienced in managing HCV.
  • Screening: All patients should be screened for evidence of current or prior hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection before starting treatment with MAVIRET.
  • Hepatic Impairment: MAVIRET is not recommended for patients with moderate or severe hepatic impairment.

  • Possible Side Effects


    Common side effects may include:

    • Headache
    • Fatigue
    • Nausea
    • Diarrhea
    • Itching (pruritus)

    Drug Interactions

    Storage Instructions

    Store MAVIRET tablets between 36°F and 86°F. Keep the medication in its original packaging until you are ready to take it.

  • If you experience symptoms of a severe allergic reaction, such as rash, itching/swelling, severe dizziness, or trouble breathing.
