SIMBRINZA (Brinzolamide/Brimonidine Tartrate) - Canada Product Information

Simbrinza is an eye drop medication containing two active ingredients, Brinzolamide and Brimonidine Tartrate. It is used to lower elevated pressure in the eye, known as intraocular pressure (IOP). This condition can occur in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension.

HOW DOES SIMBRINZA WORK?
  • Brinzolamide works by reducing the production of fluid within the eye, which helps to lower the pressure.
  • Brimonidine Tartrate also reduces fluid production and increases the drainage of fluid from the eye.

WHO SHOULD AVOID SIMBRINZA?
Do not use Simbrinza if you:
  • Are allergic to Brinzolamide, Brimonidine, or any other ingredients in this medication.
  • Have severe kidney problems.
  • Are taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or certain antidepressants.
  • Are under 2 years old.

HOW TO USE SIMBRINZA
  • Shake the bottle well before use.
  • Dosage: The usual dose is one drop in the affected eye(s) twice daily.
    • Application
    • Tilt your head back slightly and pull down your lower eyelid to create a small pocket.
    • Hold the dropper above your eye and squeeze one drop into the pocket. Close your eye for a minute.
    • Press a finger to the corner of your eye (near the nose) for about one minute to prevent the medication from draining into your tear duct.

    MISSED DOSE
If you miss a dose, apply it as soon as you remember. If it's almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule.

    PRECAUTIONS
    • Do not touch the dropper tip to any surface, including your eye or hands, to avoid contamination.
    • Remove contact lenses before using the drops and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting them.
    • Avoid driving or using machinery if you experience blurred vision or drowsiness after using Simbrinza.
    • Monitor for allergic reactions: If you develop a severe rash or eye irritation, stop using the medication and contact your doctor.
