Synjardy is a combination medication consisting of two active ingredients: empagliflozin and metformin. It is used to help control blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes.

HOW DOES SYNJARDY WORK?

  • Metformin helps to lower the amount of glucose your liver makes and helps your body use glucose better.

    Synjardy is for adults with type 2 diabetes who need extra help controlling their blood sugar levels. It's used when:
  • Diet and exercise alone aren't enough.
  • Other medications aren't controlling your blood sugar well enough.

  • WHO SHOULD NOT TAKE SYNJARDY?
    Do not take Synjardy if you:
  • Have type 1 diabetes.
  • Have severe kidney problems.
  • Have a history of severe metabolic acidosis, including diabetic ketoacidosis.
  • Are allergic to empagliflozin, metformin, or any other ingredients in Synjardy.
  • Drink a lot of alcohol.

  • HOW SHOULD I TAKE SYNJARDY?
  • Take Synjardy exactly as your doctor tells you.
  • Usually taken twice a day with meals to reduce stomach upset.
  • Swallow the tablet whole with water.
